Semi-mounted Karat cultivators are now delivered with hydraulic traction assistance as standard.
ALL semi-mounted Karat cultivators are now delivered with hydraulic traction assistance as standard.
This new development contributes towards Lemken's aim to reduce working costs without reducing work quality. Similar to that used on the VariTansanit hybrid plough, the hydraulic traction power assistance shifts weight from the cultivator to the rear axle of the tractor. Traction power of the tractor is increased, and fuel consumption reduced, with maintained work quality.

The system uses a drawbar-mounted hydraulic ram pressurised by accumulators. When tractor and implement are coupled, the hydraulic ram shifts weight from the cultivator to the tractor drawbar. At a pressure of 160 bar, an additional 1.5-2.0t of weight is placed on the tractor rear axle.
Pressure changes caused by hilly ground are compensated by the flexible ram length. This ensures a constant working depth is maintained. The hydraulic traction assistance is an intelligent system to optimise the distribution of force, reducing wheel slip and saving fuel. It enables tractors with less power or less wheel weight to be used for cultivation operations.

Lemken offers the Karat three-beam cultivator to work at a range of depths. Shallow stubble cultivation, or deep loosening up to a depth of 30cm, are possible with the same machine. The tines are distributed to precisely maintain working depth, even on slopes. Ridges between passes are avoided.
Behind the tine section, a row of notched hollow discs provide optimal levelling. As the discs are mounted on the roller frame, they don't need to be adjusted when the working depth is changed. This is an advantage especially for the semi-mounted Karat cultivators where the working depth is adjusted hydraulically from the tractor seat.
The axle of the Karat is mid-mounted between the tines and discs, making the cultivator very compact, and easy to manoeuvre on headlands or in transport. A choice of rear roller ensures optimum reconsolidation.
