The new Simba Flatliner 450 was launched at Cereals 2010.
SIMBA is extending its FlatLiner range by introducing two models designed to make optimum use of the high-horsepower tractors now in use on many larger farms.
The 450 model (4.5m working width) will be shown for the first time at Cereals 2010 and will be available in 2011, with a 600 (6.0m) model due to be introduced in 2012.
They are being introduced to meet the demands of larger scale UK farmers looking to exploit to the full the power of larger tractors, and to meet emerging demand in selected export markets.
Both models fold hydraulically to less than 3.0m for road transport; can be supplied with a trailing kit if they are to be used behind a tractor without three point linkage, and can be fitted with an oilseed rape seeding kit.
The 4.5m model will have seven of Simba's ProLift legs and is capable of working to a maximum depth of 550mm - which is a little deeper than the existing models - ahead of a single row of 600mm DD rings.
The legs are protected by either a hydraulic auto-reset system or shear bolts. The 4.5m model will require a tractor of between 270-360hp depending on soil type and working conditions, while the 6.0m model will need between 350-450hp.
"These models are designed to work alongside cultivators such as our SL600 or SL700, where farmers need to rotationally sub-soil to help maintain soil structure, and offer the high output that these farmers need," Simba's engineering manager, Alan Davies, said. "We are also getting requests for machines of this size from several key export markets.
"The 450 model will undergo an extensive field testing programme this autumn ahead of its commercial launch."
