Sumo's new LDS has been designed to operarte closer to the surface than traditional subsoilers.
THE new LDS - low disturbance subsoiler - is the latest addition to the Sumo range and complements the company's cultivation offering.
Launching the machine at Cereals 2010, Sumo's managing director, Shaun Wealleans, said the unit had specially modified legs and a spiked roller in place of the Multipacka which meant it was ideal for situations where deep subsoiling was not required.
The Narrow leg spacing, set at 500mm, gave full-width disturbance even at a shallow depth, and the design of the LDS meant that it needed less power to pull - with obvious fuel savings.
"In addition, the LDS is ready for fitting with a Sumoseeder, making it ideal for effectively and efficiently establishing oilseed rape," Mr Wealleans added.
