DUTCH-based Lely has
taken control of the German forage equipment manufacturer Mengele in a
transaction that was completed on June 1. Mengele will continue to manufacture loader wagons and silage loader wagons, spreaders, and trailed forage harvesters at its Waldstetten production site. For Lely UK Ltd, the move means a welcome enhancement of its Forage Solutions portfolio with a new Lely Storm trailed forage harvester being added this autumn to the Lely Tigo forage wagon. This new Lely forage harvester uses the flywheel chopping principle where the flywheel stores maximum kinetic energy to cope easily with lumpy swaths without straining tractor power. The Lely Storm power driveline is ultra-efficient where simplicity and technology combine to provide optimum energy efficiency with maximum output. With a power requirement from 90hp, the Lely Storm is able to accommodate 200hp tractors. By adding this product line to its Forage Solutions range, Lely now boasts an all-embracing portfolio including Lely Splendimo mowers, Lely Lotus tedders, Lely Hibiscus rakes, Lely Welger balers, Lely Attis bale wrappers, Lely Tigo loader wagons and Lely Storm trailed forage harvesters. The managing director of Lely International, Niels Havermans, said he was delighted to have the opportunity to acquire such a strong line of Mengele products to further strengthen Lely's positions. "This is an exciting opportunity for Lely and one that underscores our commitment to become one of the top players in forage harvesting solutions," he said.
