JF-Stoll: New drum mowers for 2011
Published on December 19, 2010
JF-Stoll will introduce four new drum mowers for 2011 comprising two rear-mounted models with working widths of 1.65m and 1.90m and two front-mounted models with working widths of 2.65m and 3.05m. Designed for farmers that require a quality built two-drum mower, the CM 170 now shares the same heavy three-point headstock as the larger CM 190. This also allows for an adjustable lower link pins to facilitate mounting to tractors with larger rear wheel bases. All CM Drum mowers now feature taller drums. The height of the drum barrel has been increased by 17 per cent to allow for heavier crops to pass through the machine. In today's crops this is a vital feature as drum mowers are an old product, but few manufacturers other than JF-Stoll have updated their designs. Both the CM 170 and 190 feature remote operation for work/transport adjustment. This means it is both faster and safer for the operator to make this adjustment compared to the traditional method of having to manually swing the mower into work/transport. The JF-Stoll system achieves this without the expense of hydraulics too. The CM 265F and 305F front-mounted models are a four-drum design and feature a contour float headstock as standard. Four spring-loaded easy-adjust swath rollers assist in the crop flow between the tractor wheels. A gas filled compensator is incorporated into the headstock to dampen the suspension movement. As an option, stepless cutting height adjustment can be supplied. All CM/CMF drum mowers can be supplied with skid spacers to increase cutting heights.

The drum mowers all have three twisted knives per drum for better cutting and transportation of the cut crop. The three-part drum design allows for the skid, drum skirt and barrel to be separated for repair and maintenance as required. In addition, all drum shafts have four bearings as standard and the shafts complete with bearings can be easily removed without having to dismantle the entire gearbox like traditional designs. All CM drum mowers carry a new look for 2011. Complimenting the traditional JF-Stoll red colour, there is now a dark grey contrasting colour on the linkage, transmission components and the protective canvasses. The CM Drum mower range is priced from £2,995 for the CM 170.
