JF-Stoll: New GMT trailed mower conditioners

Published on December 19, 2010

JF-Stoll has introduced a completely new range of trailed mower conditioners - the GMT - for the 2011 season. It is available in both standard and centre-pivot drawbar designs.
The main characteristics of the GMT series compared to previous models are the extremely heavy-duty construction of the complete frame, drawbar and cutting unit and the option of three different conditioner types in the same frame with a narrower transport width exactly 3.0m.

    The GMT uses JF-
Stoll's latest Top Service cutter-bar with a completely smooth underside, so the ground pressure is equally spread across the working width and the angle of cut is shallower. This means better quality cutting even in the most difficult conditions. Quick-release knives are standard and the individual disc modules can be removed in minutes for emergency maintenance. Conditioning systems include PE fingers, steel tines or chevron roller type.
The PE system is the popular choice here in the UK as it combines fixed diameter, lower power requirement and a safer system than steel types. Should a PE finger break in extreme collision with field debris, it won't do any damage to following machinery or to livestock in the winter feeding period. The GMT is a true three-in-one machine as Top Dry wide spreading is standard and an optional collector can be mounted for double swathing.

The award-winning Top Safe suspension system has been further developed for the GMT. Six springs work together to allow the cutting and conditioning unit to clear obstacles, and in severe conditions the free-floating lower link connection allow the drawbar to extend to take the energy out of sudden and large impacts.
This system has been proven on previous models to allow higher forward speeds to be achieved and thereby greater output per hour. Many GMTs are expected to work in conjunction with front-mounted mower conditioners so together with JF-
Stoll's recently introduced GXF Contour Float models, a perfect match is made with all wearing parts common across both ranges. This keeps operating costs as low as possible.

All the major adjustments are done with one special tool supplied with the machine. Spring relief, cutting height and conditioner settings are all simple and take less than a minute to adjust. Top Dry wide spreading is also activated by one lever too. All this has been done to make it easier to adjust the mower for varying field conditions, especially important for contractors.
The cutterbar and conditioner transmission has been separated so that the conditioner drive is now placed on the right hand-side of the mower. Not only does this reduce the torque through a combined drive design, but it also helps to even the weight distribution of the machine across the working width.
The panel work including all guards and top plates have all been increased in thickness to compliment the overall increase in build quality.
"We have never built such a strong trailed design before,
" Martin Holden of JF-Stoll (UK) Ltd said. "So sure are we of the design and pre-production testing, we are offering a two-year warranty as standard for all GMT's purchased for the 2011 season."
