The Krone Big X 1100 now features a single MAN diesel V12 delivering 1,031hp.
Grassland and Muck 2011 included a working demonstration of the latest Krone Big X 1100 forage harvester with its innovative output management system. Instead of the twin-engine set-up previously offered, Krone's flagship forager now features a single 1,031hp MAN V12 engine.
The output management system provides the flexibility of operating to different power curves
matched to suit different applications. In road transport, for example,
the engine output follows a specific curve that allows the machine to
travel at 40km/hr at the lowest possible fuel consumption rate.
In
the field, the operator can select one of two modes, each mode catering
for specific conditions. In applications that do not
require a high output level, for example in second cuts, the
Eco Power mode can be chosen for extremely economical operation. The X-Power
mode, however, allows the MAN common-rail engine to develop its full power under
full load in more difficult conditions like maize.
Another
highlight of the latest Big X range is the speed control system on the hydraulic-drive cooling
fan, which is temperature controlled and brings further economy
enhancements.
