Krone's new Bellima fixed-chamber round baler.
The Bellima, a new low-maintenance fixed chamber round baler that produces rock hard bales from silage, hay and straw, has been launched by Krone UK.
The new baler has evolved from the KR 125/130 models and features the new and camless EasyFlow pick-up, that is mounted right on the rotor discs on either end of the pick-up, and is a design that eliminates the need for a traditional cam track and hence a major area of wear.
"Being camless, the machine now has a simpler design after shedding quite a number of moving parts that would otherwise be subject to wear and tear," said Krone UK's managing director Marcus Oliver. "Some operators report they have noticed a decrease of up to 60 per cent in wear on the new machine."
More costs are saved on reduced service and maintenance, he added. In addition, the camless EasyFlow pick-up operates at a 30 per cent higher speed than a standard pick-up with cam and also offers noticeably quieter running.
The Bellima F125 features a camless 1,400mm EasyFlow pick-up that is controlled hydraulically and can be locked at the desired depth. The design reduces the gap between the pick-up and the bale chamber to enhance the smooth transfer of the crop and help optimize the intake and maintain a steady flow of crop.
Requiring at least 34hp from the tractor PTO, the Bellima F125 fixed-chamber round baler has a bale diameter of 1.25m and a bale width of 1.20m.
The Bellima F130 fixed-chamber round baler, meanwhile, offers the same bale dimensions, but has a wider pick-up width of 1,800mm. This gives particularly accurate tracking in curves and corners or on sloping terrain and is excellent with gathering wide swaths. The pick-up's packer works closely to the four rows of tines, and the starter roller inside the baling chamber provides a smooth and consistent flow of even short material into the machine. Boosting the baler's filling rate and capacity, the packer is a tremendous boon for the machine's overall efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Bellima looks very similar to Krone's Fortima range of round balers, both externally and internally. For example, it uses the same well-proven chain elevator technology that has narrowly spaced slats to reduce friction and power loss in order to provide superior bale feed and baling performance. The bale chamber is fully enclosed to minimise fragmentation. As the slats mesh with the material, they give the elevator a better grip for a more positive rotation of the bale - an enormous benefit in very dry or very wet crop. This way, no power is lost to friction, and tractor input is kept low.
Bellima is also extremely user-friendly since it uses no electronics. The operator starts the twine and net wrap system conveniently and quickly from a spool valve on the tractor. The net and twine rolls are housed in the front of the baler. The storage compartment offers room for six rolls of twine or two net rolls. The number of net wraps is set on an adjuster and the number of twine wraps is set on a stepped wheel without the use of tools.
