Joskin Cargo-Track
 |
One of the biggest bits of kit at Agritechnica 2011 was the new Joskin Cargo-Track self-propelled tool carrier. Shown at Hanover with a muckspreader body on the back, the Cargo-Track is based on an altered chassis from Iveco's eight-wheeler Tracker truck. Powered by a six-cylinder, Euro 5 Iveco engine developing 450hp, the vehicle is 10.2m long, 2.55m wide and 3.82m tall to the top of the cab (which is supplied by New Holland). Available bodies include a slurry tanker, a bulker, a spreader and a silage body. The maximum gross weight for road use is 32t, but Joskin says the design weigth is up to 50t for off-road use (a load of nearly 30t). The Cargo-Track uses ZF's 16-speed Eurotronic automatic transmission with an added crawler mode and has a maximum speed of 80km/hr.

Mercedes-Benz Zetros | Another new product aimed at high-capacity agricultural transport is the Zetros 1833A 4x4 from Mercedes-Benz. Looking more than a little bit like a beefed-up Unimog, the Zetros is actually based on the M-B Actros truck chassis and features a 326hp version of the M-B engine used in the Axor range of trucks. Based on M-B's recently introduced Zetros road trucks, this agricultural version is produced for M-B by Harald Bruhns GmbH which fits low-ground-pressure tyres, hydrualic systsms and an agricultural fifth wheel for attaching semi-trailers. With a three-axle trailer in tow, the combination can operate at up to 40t on the road. As the top speed is limited to 65km/hr, however, drivers don't need a full LGV licence to operate it for agricultural work.
