Horstine: Oilseed rape seeder for cultivators

Published on December 1, 2011

Horstine will launch a new oilseed rape seeder called ProSeed at Lamma 2012. The unit can be fitted to a wide range of subsoilers and cultivators to accurately broadcast or band sow oilseed rape.
ProSeed is suitable for cultivators up to 6m in width. A 200-litre capacity seed hopper is fitted with a viewing window to monitor seed levels and comes as standard with a low hopper sensor, which warns the operator when the hopper is almost empty. An electrically driven fan distributes seed from the eight-outlet metering unit to either broadcast spreader plates or banding outlets.
ProSeed also uses a Horstine Wizard rate controller that allows the operator to select the desired application rate and then adjusts the metering speed to compensate for changes in the tractors forward speed. A GPS speed sensor is supplied as standard.
To enhance easy operation a headland switch automatically turns seed distribution on when the cultivator is in its working position and cuts it off when the implement is lifted out of work.
