Lemken: New compact disc harrow
Published on January 25, 2012
Lemken's compact disc harrow series, the Heliodor 8 and Rubin 9 with working widths up to 12m, could soon be complemented by the Rubin 12 which was shown for the first time in a 3m version at Agritechnica 2011. This new compact disc harrow can work up to 20cm deep, an operational range that has previously been restricted to tined cultivators. The new Rubin 12 differs from its successful Rubin 9 namesake in several respects. It has 732mm diameter discs to allow the 20cm working depth, while a new symmetrical arrangement of the discs improves the track-keeping of the machine. By pulling straight behind the tractor, it is easier to match one field pass to the next, which is particularly important if using GPS steering. The 18 scalloped concave discs across the 3m working width are arranged with eight discs in the front row and 10 in the second row. Disc spacing is approximately 17cm, with 120cm between The front and rear row. To guarantee an optimal soil flow, the central disc of the front row is set slightly backward, and the corresponding disc of the rear row set slightly forward. A rebound harrow, behind the first row, controls the soil flow while a levelling tine harrow behind the rear row optimally distributes and perfectly levels the soil. Both harrows can be conveniently and steplessly adjusted via sealed adjuster screws. The Rubin 12 features a Uni-wheel that provides trouble-free manoeuvrability on the headland and during road transport.

The tool arrangement on the Rubin 12 makes it appropriate for primary and secondary stubble cultivation even in the most heavy soil conditions. Large amounts of organic matter are intensively mixed throughout the working depth. Market introduction is intended for 2013 after a thorough trial period.
