GPS farming systems

Agco brand Fendt has been awarded an Agritechnica 2011 Gold Medal for its new Fendt GuideConnect system, where two tractors are connected via satellite navigation and radio communication to form one unit, with one of the two vehicles unmanned but performing the same working procedure as the manned vehicle.
The new StarFire 3000 receiver is now said to offer the best satellite and terrain compensation performance on the market. It has been designed to process GPS and Glonass signals and to track weaker satellite signals more efficiently.
John Deere's new third-generation GreenStar 2630 Display is the first of its kind to be awarded an Isobus 2011 conformity certificate. This reflects John Deere's commitment to establishing compatibility with numerous implements of other makes.
The first GPS steering system from Claas was introduced in 2003 and since then the company has developed a full
range of steering systems offering a range of precision to suit different needs. It now offers three different terminals for use with GPS steering and machine management systems: GPS CoPilot TS; GPS Pilot S3 and Cebis Mobile.
JOHN Deere's Agricultural Management Solutions (AMS) division has announced two new ways of supplying farm vehicles with highly accurate GPS correction signals for precision farming applications: a mobile RTK system with an industry exclusive fall-back feature, and a unique method of extending the signal reliably from an RTK base station.
INCREASED accuracy and lower costs can be achieved by using automatic section control on the growing number of Isobus-ready sprayers, fertiliser spreaders and seed drills, using the new Application Pro Universal system from John Deere.
CLAAS UK has become one of the first manufacturers to establish a network of RTK transmitters to provide farmers with a cost-effective means of benefitting from the high-accuracy GPS correction system.
TOPCON Precision Agriculture has released a new electric steering product, the AES25, that doesn't intrude into the operator's working area or alter the steering wheel position.

NEW Holland is taking the technological initiative with its revolutionary new approach to Precision Land Management. Not only is it fitting its IntelliSteer Integrated Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) guidance to many more of its machines as factory fit, but CNH - working with its world-renowned partner Trimble - is now the only tractor manufacturer able to supply after-market integrated DGPS kits for competitive brands of tractor.
THE latest member of the John Deere display family is the all-new GreenStar 1800 which has been designed as the optimum solution for customers using guidance applications on John Deere or non-Deere equipment, especially when teamed with the AutoTrac Universal 200 steering kit.
AS TRACTORS become more powerful and the implements they operate become ever wider, automatic steering systems which ensure that overlapping or missed area are minimised, are essential.
THE new Claas GPS pilot terminal makes field work considerably easier.
THE company behind Massey Ferguson, Fendt, Valtra and Challenger has announced a strategic partnership with Topcon Positioning Systems (TPS).
USING next-generation positioning technology, the Topcon System 150 represents superior value for today’s farmer.
THE Patchwork BlackBox is a market leader in the field of GPS guidance, machine control and other functions, and during 2008 it has achieved market dominance in Ireland, Scotland and the West of England and Wales.
TO INCREASE accuracy when operating in AutoTrac curved track mode, John Deere will be introducing a new Implement Compensation feature for GreenStar 2.

FOR newcomers to the world of guidance, John Deere has launched the GreenStar Lightbar system, a manual steering aid that is easy to install and use, and which has been specifically designed for small- to medium-sized livestock farms and medium-sized arable units.
