Sugar beet harvesters

Modifications to the hydraulic system, steering, electronics and engine characteristics on the Grimme Maxtron 620 self-propelled sugar beet harvester could help reduce fuel consumption by up to 20 per cent.
AGRIFAC revealed its latest Quatro sugar beet harvester at Agritechnica 2009. The revised machine features a new operator cab and completely new styling.
THE automatic Root Runner steering system from Grimme controls the exact track guidance of the tractor. A manual feeler unit is attached to the front or directly onto the trailed sugar beet harvester and records manual signals.
THE new high-performance FM300 defoliator or an advanced in-line front topper are now available for Grimme's Maxtron 620 self-propelled sugar beet harvester. Also new for 2010 is an optional feature that allows the left-hand track to move 400mm to the outside, increases the track width and thus stability on slopes.
THE six-row Rootster 604 sugar beet harvester, with its 4t bunker capacity, was first launched at Agritechnica 2007. For use as a one-pass system, the flail topper FT300 or defoliator BM300 are available for attachment to the front linkage of the tractor.
AGRITECHNICA 2009, at Hanover, will see the launch of a new sugar beet harvester from Grimme - the Rexor 620.
SUGAR beet growers had an opportunity to see the latest development from harvester manufacturer Holmer at an open day near Littleport, Cambridgeshire, in mid January.
